Country: Poland/UK

American filmmaker Katie (Emma Friedman- Cohen) sets out to create a documentary about the lives of migrants in post-Brexit referendum London. She casts aspiring Polish actress Alicja (Aneta Piotrowska) as the main figure of her documentary, instructing her to simply act as if the camera isn’t there. A visual mix of cinéma vérité and video blogging, My Friend the Polish Girl also raises questions about the role of truth and manipulation in both styles of filmmaking. This experimental film was nominated for awards at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, and New Horizons International Film Festival. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the Directors
