Walerian Borowczyk is perhaps one of the most well-known Polish artists in the West, popular for his early animated films and a series of French productions. From the height of his fame in the 1970s, Borowczyk took a sharp tumble, being labelled as a pornographer for his depictions of subversive eroticism. Love Express draws on interviews with the likes of Terry Gilliam, Bertrand Bonello, Andrzej Wajda and Slavoj Žižek in an attempt to unpack the paradoxical enigma of a man who craved transgressive freedom.
