Alicja (Gabriela Muskała) lives a fiercely independent life in Warsaw, with no recollection of what came before. After she is diagnosed with dissociative fugue, the one-time wife, daughter and mother unwillingly returns to her estranged family in Lower Silesia. The intense pressure of being a familiar stranger soon gives way to further psychological terror, as Alicja slowly rediscovers who she once was and what she may have unwittingly escaped. Fugue won three Golden Lions at the Polish Film Festival, and was nominated for the Critics’ Week Grand Prize at Cannes. Screening will be followed by a Q&A with Agnieszka Smoczyńska.
